Activities for 2013 Upper Hutt Santa Parade

posted 24 Nov 2013, 19:14 by Mildred Laurilla   [ updated 2 Dec 2013, 15:27 ]

Hello Everyone,

We are inviting participants to the 2013 Upper Hutt Santa Parade.  The parade starts at 3pm Saturday December 7.  This also coincides with the 2nd Street Appeal fundraising for the victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines, organized by the KASAGIP Charitable Trust.

The theme for this year’s parade is Christmas around the world.

So for the Philippines, we are expected to wear our colourful national costume/dress.
If you have drums you can play the better, to add some festivity.

Please reply to me, rachel.pointon@gmail.com or contact Ate Belen Salandanan, her phone num 9707960 or send her an email belens2402@gmail.com if you want to participate in this event.

Looking forward to hear from you.

Regards
Rachel and the KASAGIP Team

KASAGIP Charitable Trust (“Community Partners in Times of Need”) celebrated its 4th Anniversary on 17th of August 2013, at the Dowse Art Museum. Among its distinguished guests are Philippine Ambassador Her Excellency Virginia Benavidez, His Worship Upper Hutt Mayor Wayne Guppy and His Worship Lower Hutt Mayor Rey Wallace. The guests in their speeches discussed the benefits of diversity brought about by the migrant community, and the positive contributions of the migrant community in general. They lauded KASAGIP for its mission and vision and encouraged the organisation to continue to be of service to Filipinos and other ethnic groups.

The Ambassador and the two Mayors led in the installation/oath taking of the new members of the Board of Trustees – Mar Esparas (Board Chair), Rey Cabauatan (Vice Chair), Tina Florendo (Board Treasurer) and Michael Siazon (Board Member). New volunteers were also recognised at the programme by the Ambassador, with acknowledgement of the other members of the KASAGIP who will be holding some administrative duties, including Rachel Pointon as the incoming Executive Director (and interim Board Secretary), and Ed Alforte as Petty Cash Manager.

Mar Esparas the new Board Chair, thanked outgoing Executive Director Mimi Laurilla for her contributions as Board Secretary (in 2009) and in her role as Executive Director for almost 3 years. Jarvis Laurilla was also thanked for his role as Board Treasurer for 4 years.

A testimonial was also given by one of KASAGIP’s beneficiaries who is now successful in New Zealand.

The organisation wishes to thank all guests and family/friends who celebrated the event with them.

FSB4 Financial Services was the proud sponsor of the event.

KASAGIP holds successful garage sale

posted 9 Jun 2013, 19:46 by Nick Ballesteros   [ updated 9 Jun 2013, 20:00 ]

KASAGIP expresses our appreciation and gratitude for your contributions (donation of good quality house hold items/ furniture, electrical appliances, clothing, etc) that made our recent Quarterly Garage Sale a success on the 25th of May 2013. Thank you also to our wonderful volunteers who were there to lend a hand.

We only intended an 8am-12noon sell-out but because it was a very good weather, and people kept coming in to view our items we decided to extend up to 2 pm! It is the first time we had more than 3 hours of selling!

The money will go towards our donation to a needy individual that the group had already identified.

Again, we hope for your continued support in our future garage sale activities and other KASAGIP activities as well.
